Letter from President Ty Joslin

2012 trailer winner KMH

Dear WSBBA Members,

The 2013 season has kicked off. The WSBBA Legacy Futurity and Derby in Caldwell Idaho was a success. The Hadden & McCurdy Bucking Bulls had a clean sweep at the event this year. My hat off to them and their bull Hou’s Jacket. Hou’s Jacket won the first WSBBA Legacy futurity and returned to win the first WSBBA Legacy Derby event. Thanks to everyone who entered and supported this event.

The WSBBA has a few announcements we want to make for the 2013 season. First of all we are very thankful to be giving away the year use of a 2013 Maverick 24 foot trailer with the option to buy to the high point contractor. This trailer will be given away in Las Vegas at our finals.

This year we have changed the way we will be awarding points toward this trailer. Points will be given away at each event to the first thru fifteenth placing in each age division. Example first place 15 points, second place 14 points and so on. The WSBBA will only count the top three (3) bulls a contractor enters at each event. A contractor can enter as many bulls as they like but only their top three placing bulls in any division will count towards the trailer. There will be no points for each bull a contractor enters at each event as there were last year. The WSBBA Board feels that this will offer an opportunity for more of our stock contractors to have a chance to win this great trailer.  The WSBBA Legacy Futurity and Derby counted towards bull of the year but did not count towards the year end trailer.

The WSBBA is also happy to announce that there will be $1000.00 added in each division at the finals this year thanks to Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino.  This $1000.00 is on top of the 10% percent taken out at each event throughout the year. We are currently working on more details for the finals including buckles and added money. Thanks to Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino for their continued support of the WSBBA.

The month of May is very busy for the WSBBA. The Paso Robles California event is fast  approaching. This event has been with the WSBBA from the beginning. It was moved to Porterville the last two years but is returning to Paso Robles and after talking with David Sandoval, I am very excited about his decision to return to Paso Robles. This will be the first event that counts towards the High Point Stock Contractor Maverick Trailer.

The WSBBA will be having an event in Douglas, WY  May 18 this year,  thanks to Ted Coleman. This move is not only good for the WSBBA but for the bull breeders in Wyoming and surrounding states. I encourage all of the WSBBA members to support Ted Coleman on the first WSBBA event in Wyoming.

The week after the Douglas ,WY’s event  the WSBBA will be returning Chelan, Washington. This event was a fun and great event last year and I know will be even better this year. The Chelan, WA event will be May 25.

The month of June will bring the Tremonton, Utah event. This event will be June 29 and replaces the Malad Idaho event. Travis Udy hopes this move will help contractors with more hotel rooms, restaurant, and sponsorships.

We will be in Salem Oregon July 13. The Chelan and Salem event will be giving a rifle away to the High Point Stock Contractor. A contractor must attend both events to be eligible for the rifle.

The Richfield Utah event will be August 24. This will be the last chance to qualify for the finals.  A bull must attend one event to be eligible for the finals.

The WSBBA wants to thank everyone for their support and we wish everyone good luck this year.

Sincerely,

Ty Joslin

WSBBA President
